  1. Hello! I appreciate the work you are doing to cure SCD. In the meantime, what do you know about Hemoxin and Dioscovite as effective treatments for the symptoms of SCD?

    • Jonathon Scott says:

After years of hopes, efforts to commercialize Nicosan (also known as Nix-0699, Niprisan and Hemoxin), a drug based on three plants indigenous to Africa, seem to have stalled. We don’t have any up-to-date information on progress.
Dioscovite is a dietary supplement reported by some sources to be based on potassium thiocyanate. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not evaluate it’s efficacy as a sickle-cell treatment and we lack recent scientific data.
Studies of thiocyanate are discussed at the Sickle Cell Information Center.

  2. Dear Dr Jonathon,
I have been following your website as well as all your research for over 3 years now, I have a son with SSD, please could you give an update on where the cure for sickle cell is at the moment.
